Elite Instrumental Marches
Following regular requests to produce a CD featuring purely military instrumental tracks, Tomahawk Film Music, after further research in the archives, is pleased to release a superb all-new collection featuring the Third Reich’s elite Musikkorps, including the Bodyguard Divisional band of the Leibstandarte-SS ‘Adolf Hitler, the Musikkorps of the Infanterie-Regiments ‘Grossdeutchsland’ and the bands of Nazi Germany's famous military music schools, performing some of the very best of the period’s stirring instrumental marches.
Viewed with the same seriousness as combat personnel, career military bandsmen of the Reich were recruited from the following backgrounds: professional musicians who answered adverts in the Deutsche Militärmusikerzeitung for posts within the newly formed Wehrmacht and SS Musikkorps during the pre-war period, or who applied to join a military band after the outbreak of war in 1939; fully trained Hitlerjugend musicians spotted by SS and Wehrmacht Musikmeisters and invited to join the korps or divisional band; part-time ‘hobby’ musicians spotted by their regimental bands as potential recruits for formal nazi military music training and finally, professional military musicians recruited, upon completion of their musical training, to the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS's respective military music academies.
As a result, some of Nazi Germany’s finest military musicians passed through the top Militär Musikschulen into the Regimental bands of the Reich’s elite Musikkorps and this CD brings you 15 of their finest instrumental performances including:
Panzerschiff Deutschland – Waldmannsheil – Reiterlust - Der Eiserne - Gruss an Kiel - Aufwärts zur Sonne - Hacketauer Marsch - Regimentsgruss - Sturmende Jugend - Marsch des Panzergrenadier-Regiments Nr.1 - Jugend Marschiert - Weichsel und Warthe - Luftsport Voran - Folies Bergeres and Badenweiler Marsch…
